The Fantastic Melee Weekly #5 is Happening Tuesday Starting @ 3:00

We’re off to a pretty good start with these Melee events, but we’re working to make them even better! Take a look below at some new things we’re trying out this week – we hope to see you here:

  • Starting this week, we’ll be opening our doors for the event room starting at 3:00pm! This will allow players to show up early in case they want to avoid the traffic at rush hour.
  • To commemorate our 5th Melee event, we’ll be granting FREE Venue Fee for all of our first-time competitors.

**Important note: The venue will be closing immediately as the tournament ends. Because of this, we will ask that everyone halts friendlies and begins packing up when we reach Grand Finals. Thank you for your cooperation!

The stream will go live shortly before the event begins. VoDs will be available shortly after the event is over on our YouTube channel.

– Singles (1v1) double-elimination tournament.
– Each tournament set will be Best of 3 (with the exception of Grand Finals if it begins before 10:30PM, at which point both potential sets are Best of 5).

– This is a BYOC (bring your own controller) event
– No Wireless Controllers/Joysticks
– Equipment malfunctions that pause/reset matches may result in game/match losses at the discretion of the tournament director

– There will be no smoking OR vaping in the tournament area.
– Cheating will not be tolerated – any sign of cheating will result in forfeit from the tournament.
– Fighting will result in ejection from the tournament area and a lifetime ban from this and future D.C eSports events.

– 4 stocks, 8 minutes.
– Items are set to “off” and “none”
– Wobbling is legal. Infinites must end at 300%, otherwise it becomes stalling.
– Stalling is banned.
– Coaching mid-match is banned.
– You cannot re-select a stage you have won on as a counterpick.
– You can switch controller ports on your counterpick only.
Controller ports will be decided by players. If there is a conflict, a game of RPS should settle the dispute.
– Neutral Spawn Points: Players may elect to use neutral spawn points to decide controller ports for the first match in case of any disputes.
– If a player pauses in the middle of a game (unless by request of a TO), that player must lose his/her current stock.
– A match ending in simultaneous death does not go to the initiator. If the result is sudden death from this, use the normal tiebreaking rules (below) to determine the winner. Otherwise use who the game declared the winner.
– If the timer runs out, the winner is determined first by stock, then by percentage. If there is a tie in both stock and percentage, then follow the tie-breaking procedures outlined below.

Tie-breaking Procedure
– In the event of a tie game (stock and percentages are equal when the clock runs out, or a simultaneous K.O happens that is not resolved by the game), a 1 stock, 3 minute game will be played.
– If this match results in another tie, a 1 stock, no time limit game will be played to determine the winner.

Stage List (1 ban in best of 3, no bans in best of 5)

Final Destination
Yoshi’s Story
Fountain of Dreams
Dream Land 64
